Welcome to Roastly, a mobile application designed to help you stay focused, reduce screen time, and maintain discipline through friendly competition. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related web services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect certain information to provide and improve our app's features:
- Account Information: When you register and synchronize your profile, we collect your nickname/display name, email address, and authentication identifiers provided securely through our authentication provider.
- PVP and Game Stats: To support the PvP Room feature, we store room codes, participation history, status, and your current R-Point balance on our database.
- User-Generated Content & In-Game Chat: To enable real-time communication during PvP challenges, we collect and store the chat messages, timestamps, room identifiers, and sender IDs transmitted through the in-game chat feature.
- Optional AI Personalization: AI reminder personalization is off by default. If you explicitly enable it, we process your display name, goals, occupation, selected app names, daily limit, and summarized usage minutes through our Supabase service and Google Gemini to create personalized focus reminders. Raw browsing history is not included, and you can turn this feature off at any time.
- AI Image Generation: When you choose to generate an image, the prompt and selected visual style are sent to Pollinations to create the requested image. The generated image is returned through a Pollinations URL.
- Safety Reports: If you report AI-generated content or PvP feedback, we store the report context, related prompt or content, generated image URL where applicable, your account identifier, and the report timestamp so we can investigate and improve safety.
- Device Permissions:
- Usage Statistics: On Android, we request access to Package Usage Stats to monitor screen time and detect if you open restricted apps. Raw browsing history remains on your device. Only if you separately enable AI personalization do we process the limited summary described above.
- System Overlay: We request permission to display over other apps. This is used strictly on your device to show the lock/overlay screen and keep you accountable when a blacklisted app is launched.
- Device Identifiers: We collect Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens to deliver push notifications for game alerts and warnings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To run and manage discipline rooms, calculate PvP results, and update R-Point balances.
- To deliver real-time messages within PvP rooms and enforce community guidelines through chat moderation.
- To process and review user reports regarding inappropriate or abusive chat content.
- To process and review reports about unsafe or inappropriate AI-generated content.
- To enforce app blocking rules locally on your device based on your chosen settings.
- To send notification alerts, PvP updates, and focus reminders from the Roastly AI assistant.
- To provide optional AI-personalized reminders after you give explicit consent and to generate images when you submit a prompt.
- To verify app updates and prevent cheating.
- To display advertisements and monitor ad performance.
3. Third-Party Services
We integrate with several third-party platforms to ensure the app functions correctly. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies:
- Supabase: Used for database storage, real-time sync, and secure authentication. For more details, review the Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Firebase: Used for Cloud Messaging (push notifications) and web hosting. For more details, review the Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob: Used for showing non-intrusive advertisements in the app. For more details, review Google's Privacy & Terms.
- Google Gemini: Used to create optional personalized focus reminders and PvP feedback. For more details, review Google's Privacy Policy.
- Pollinations: Used to generate images from prompts you submit. For more details, review the Pollinations Privacy Policy.
4. User-Generated Content (UGC) & Chat Moderation
Roastly features an in-game chat system within PvP rooms to facilitate friendly competition and encouragement. We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful community environment.
- Community Standards: Users are strictly prohibited from transmitting hate speech, harassment, bullying, abusive language, sexually explicit content, or any form of unlawful material.
- Reporting Mechanism: Users can flag or report objectionable chat messages directly within the app interface.
- Moderation & Action: We reserve the right to review reported chat logs, remove violating content, and restrict or suspend accounts that fail to comply with our community standards.
- Chat Visibility: Messages sent in a PvP room are visible to all current participants of that specific room.
5. Data Retention and Security
We retain your profile data, PvP stats, chat logs, and safety reports for as long as your account is active or as necessary to provide service functionality, investigate reports, resolve disputes, and enforce community safety rules. Information sent to third-party AI providers is also subject to their retention practices. We employ industry-standard secure socket layers (SSL/TLS) and modern authentication mechanisms through Supabase to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
6. Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data within Roastly:
- You can update or change your display name and settings directly inside the app.
- Account deletion: Open Roastly and go to Settings → Delete account to permanently delete your account and associated data, or use our public account deletion page if you cannot access the app. We delete the backend profile, Pomodoro, PvP, chat, notification, and report data associated with the account, except information we must retain for legal or security obligations.
- You can enable or disable device permissions (Usage Stats, System Overlay, Notifications) at any time through your mobile device's system settings.
- You can keep AI personalization disabled, revoke consent at any time in Settings, and continue using core app-blocking features without it.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are not designed for or targeted at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
